Craft your own wooden charcuterie board in a professional studio, guided by master woodcarvers and leave with a board ready to use.
During this introductory course you will hand carve your own charcuterie board with a grape and vine leaf detail.
No previous experience is necessary.
Over the course of the day, you will learn about the various tools, cutting techniques, the structure of timber and the different ways of finishing and maintaining your completed piece.
Wood carving can be a surprisingly technical pursuit, but we simplify the various stages so that the process is accessible to everyone.
One Day Carving Class
Carving a Cheese Board
The day begins with an introduction to the tools and how to stay safe using them. You will then select one of the boards we have prepared with a blank for you to carve, along with a plaster cast design to copy.
We will guide you through the carving with demonstrations, and aim to keep everyone progressing at the same pace.
Tea, coffee and sweet treats will be provided throughout.
We will break for lunch at 1pm when you are able to eat your own lunch in the studio or outside in the yard or there are plenty of shops/ cafes/restaurants nearby if you prefer.
After lunch we will continue with a demonstration of how best to sharpen and maintain chisels, as well as information about where to purchase tools to continue your carving careers.
Your charcuterie boards will be complete by mid-afternoon, allowing time to oil and finish them.
You will walk away with a beautiful product to keep or gift, along with the essential skills required to continue carving in the comfort of your own home.
